Safe First Crypto Transfer Checklist
Verify asset, network, full address, memo or tag, amount, and final credit.
After this guide, you should be able to:
- Understand irreversible-transfer responsibility
- Avoid wrong-network and missing-memo errors
- Use a test transfer to limit impact
Six fields must all be right
- Asset: similar names do not make USDT, USDC, and ETH interchangeable.
- Network: both sending and receiving sides must support the same network.
- Address: verify the full address after copying.
- Memo/tag: include it when the receiving platform requires it.
- Amount: account for fees and minimum credit.
- Status: broadcast, confirmation, and platform credit are different stages.
Test small, then send the remainder
A test costs fees but validates address, network, and credit flow. After it arrives, copy from the same verified destination again rather than trusting a lookalike in transaction history.
Stop and check: A confirmed on-chain transaction generally cannot be reversed by a platform, miner, or developer. Anyone rushing you to skip checks increases your risk.
Before-send checklist
- Exact asset matches
- Sending and receiving network match
- Address obtained from a trusted destination
- Full address verified
- Memo/tag requirement confirmed
- Fee and net received amount reviewed
- Loss-tolerable test sent first
- Test confirmed and credited
- Remainder independently rechecked
Use knowledge for a check, not an impulse trade
Review network, gas, and address terms
Three-question self-check
1. Can the same-looking address accept every network?
No. The destination must support the selected network and asset.
2. Does pending mean credited?
No. Block confirmation and destination credit still remain.
3. Why not check only address ends?
Address poisoning can create convincing lookalikes.
